Podgorica and the coast
Wholesale charcoal for Montenegro
Virovo Promet supplies hardwood charcoal and briquettes to Montenegro by pallet, full truck or container, quoted per order. Buyers are hotels, restaurants and distributors in Podgorica and along the Budva and Kotor coast, where the tourist season sets the rhythm of demand. Trucks reach Montenegro by road through Kosovo, Serbia or Albania, and the port of Bar is available when a container makes more sense.
How we deliver to Montenegro
Deliveries to Montenegro travel by road, and the route depends on the delivery point. Trucks can go through Kosovo, through Serbia or through Albania, and we pick the route with the forwarder when we prepare your quotation, so Podgorica, Budva, Kotor and Bar are all reachable by truck. Full 13.6 m trucks carry about 33 Euro pallets; groupage covers a few pallets for a hotel group or a coastal restaurant.
Bar is a deep-sea container port, so a 20 ft or 40 ft container can be routed there for a large order, and Bar is also one of the alternative ports we use for overseas containers. Transit is a few days by road and is confirmed in the quotation. Incoterms are agreed per order, from EXW Skopje to delivered.
Customs and documents for Montenegro
Ask your customs representative to confirm the classification, origin documents and import requirements for the actual goods and destination. Dispatch from Skopje does not, by itself, prove North Macedonian origin or establish a preferential duty rate.
Before ordering, agree the invoice, packing list, transport document and any additional product, traceability or safety documents required for your shipment. The broker and carrier should confirm clearance or transit arrangements and responsibilities before loading.
Who buys from us in Montenegro
Coastal tourism is the main driver of charcoal demand in Montenegro. Hotels and restaurants in Budva, Kotor and along the coast run their roštilj every evening through the summer, and they need ćumur that lasts through late service. That is why Marabu, with its long burn (indicatively up to around 7 hours, varying by lot) and low smoke and sparks once fully lit, is the usual request for hotel kitchens.
Restaurants grilling meat and fish often choose oak or beech. Distributors in Podgorica supply both the coast and the inland restaurants and stock a mix of lump charcoal and charcoal briquettes in 2, 3, 5 and 10 kg bags for retail. Private-label bags for a distributor's own brand are available on request. The range is subject to availability and includes acacia among others.
What to include in your enquiry
Send the product, the quantity in bags, pallets or trucks, the bag size, the delivery address, the Incoterm you want, the date you need the goods, and whether you want a private label. For a coastal hotel or restaurant, say when your season opens and we plan loading around it. Virovo Promet confirms in writing the availability, the net load, the packaging, the documents for the lot and the terms.
Virovo Promet is a family-owned charcoal wholesaler in Skopje, North Macedonia, founded in 1990, exporting full-container loads of hardwood charcoal across Europe and beyond. You are welcome at the Skopje office and warehouse, Monday to Saturday 08:00 to 16:00, or we can talk by video call in Serbian or English.
How do trucks get from Skopje to Podgorica or the coast?
By road through Kosovo, Serbia or Albania, chosen with the forwarder for the delivery point. Transit is a few days and is confirmed in the quotation.
Can a hotel order before the summer season?
Yes. Tell us your opening date and the quantity for the season; a few pallets go as groupage, larger stocks as a full truck.
Is there a container option for Montenegro?
Yes. Bar is a container port and can receive a 20 ft or 40 ft container for a large order. Sea shipments follow IMDG rules for UN 1361 Class 4.2, confirmed per booking.
Does CEFTA make the charcoal duty-free in Montenegro?
Only for lots that qualify as originating. We confirm the origin document per lot and do not promise preferential origin in advance.
Which charcoal suits a hotel grill that runs all evening?
Marabu is the usual choice for long service; oak and beech suit classic grilling. All figures are indicative and vary by lot.
