Restaurant-grade charcoal

Marabu charcoal, wholesale and export

Marabu is the charcoal professional grills ask for by name: very dense, very hot, and steady for a whole service. Virovo Promet supplies it in retail bags of 2–20 kg, on pallets and by the full container to restaurants, distributors and retail chains across the Balkans, the EU and beyond.

What Marabu charcoal is

Marabu charcoal is made from the marabú tree, a thorny hardwood that grows in dense thickets in Cuba. The wood is exceptionally dense, which is why the charcoal burns hotter and longer than most European hardwoods and produces very little smoke, sparking or ash.

Typical values for the lots we supply: burn temperature up to about 850 °C, fixed carbon above 84 %, and an ember bed that holds for up to seven hours without refuelling. It lights in a chimney starter like any lump charcoal and settles into a calm, even heat that a cook can rely on from the first order to the last.

Who buys Marabu

Kitchens that grill all evening: steakhouses, grill restaurants, kebab and skewer houses, hotel and catering kitchens. They buy Marabu because it behaves the same at noon and at ten at night, and because a fire that needs feeding less often is a fire that costs less in staff time.

Distributors and retail chains stock it as the premium line next to their standard charcoal — it is the bag the serious home griller comes back for.

Packaging and order sizes

Retail bags of 2, 3, 5, 10, 15 and 20 kg with labels in your market's language, palletised and wrapped for transport, or bulk. Wholesale orders ship by the pallet, the truck or the full 20 ft and 40 ft container.

Custom bag sizes, packaging and private-label printing are agreed per order. Marabu is in high demand worldwide and our range follows global supply, so confirm quantities and dates with us when you plan a season.

Handling and storage

Marabu arrives as dense, elongated pieces that stack tightly in the grill and produce little dust. Grading and piece size are agreed per order. Like all charcoal it should be stored dry, off the ground and away from open flame; a dry bag lights faster and burns cleaner.

Questions buyers ask

How long does Marabu charcoal burn?

Up to about seven hours of usable embers per load in a restaurant grill, depending on airflow and how the bed is managed — roughly twice what typical beech charcoal gives. Kitchens refuel less and hold a steadier temperature. Values are indicative and vary by lot.

Does Marabu charcoal smoke or spark?

Smoke and sparks can occur, especially during lighting or when fat drips onto the coals. Low visible smoke does not mean safe air: burning charcoal releases carbon monoxide. Never burn barbecue charcoal indoors or in an enclosed space. Follow the product label and appliance instructions.

What is the minimum order for Marabu?

Retail buyers can pick up single bags at our Skopje office. For delivery, orders usually start at one pallet; export orders ship by the pallet, the truck or the full container. Tell us the quantity and destination and we will quote.

Can you print our own brand on the bags?

Yes. Custom bag sizes, packaging and private-label printing are agreed per order, and retail bags can be labelled in several languages for your market.

Is Marabu always available?

Marabu is in high demand worldwide and our range follows global supply, so availability can vary between seasons. Ask what is in stock and we will confirm quantities and lead times for your order.

Tell us the quantity and the destination — we quote Marabu by the pallet and by the container.
