How we deliver to Turkey

Turkey is reached by road through Greece or Bulgaria. Trucks leave Skopje and enter Turkey either at Kipoi–İpsala after transiting Greece or at Kapıkule after transiting Bulgaria, and both routes lead to Istanbul, with Bursa and İzmir served onward from there. Full 13.6 m trucks carry about 33 Euro pallets; groupage is available for a few pallets, which suits a first order or a sample run.

For large orders a 20 ft or 40 ft container can be shipped from Thessaloniki, about 230 km from Skopje, to a Turkish port, confirmed per booking. Transit is a few days by road and is confirmed in the quotation together with the loading date. Incoterms are agreed per order, from EXW Skopje to delivered.

Customs and documents for Turkey

Ask your customs representative to confirm the classification, origin documents and import requirements for the actual goods and destination. Dispatch from Skopje does not, by itself, prove North Macedonian origin or establish a preferential duty rate.

Before ordering, agree the invoice, packing list, transport document and any additional product, traceability or safety documents required for your shipment. The broker and carrier should confirm clearance or transit arrangements and responsibilities before loading.

Who buys from us in Turkey

Turkey has a large mangal kömürü market of its own, so Turkish buyers compare specifications and want to see the product before they commit. That is how we prefer to work: a sample bag or a few pallets first, then the full truck. Ocakbaşı restaurants and kebab houses in Istanbul, Bursa and İzmir ask for Marabu because it burns for a long time (indicatively up to around 7 hours, varying by lot) with low smoke and sparks once fully lit.

Restaurants grilling over a classic mangal often choose oak or beech. Distributors and importers take mixed loads and retail bags of 2 to 10 kg with Turkish labels, and private-label bags are available on request. The range is subject to availability and includes acacia among other types.

What to include in your enquiry

State the product, the quantity in bags, pallets, trucks or containers, the bag size, the delivery address or port in Turkey, the Incoterm you prefer, your target date and any private-label needs, and tell us which specifications matter to you, such as burn time, piece size or fixed carbon, so we send the indicative figures for the lot. Virovo Promet confirms in writing the availability, net load, packaging, documents and terms.

Virovo Promet is a family-owned charcoal wholesaler in Skopje, North Macedonia, founded in 1990, exporting full-container loads of hardwood charcoal across Europe and beyond. Everyone is welcome at the Skopje office and warehouse, Monday to Saturday 08:00 to 16:00, to see and compare the products; a video call in English is the alternative.

Can we get a sample before ordering a truck?

Yes. The minimum at the Skopje office is a single bag, and a few pallets can go as groupage. Tell us which types you want to compare.

Which crossing do trucks use into Turkey?

Kipoi–İpsala from Greece or Kapıkule from Bulgaria, chosen with the forwarder. Route and transit are confirmed in the quotation.

What import documents do you provide for Turkey?

Invoice, packing list, CMR and the origin document agreed for the lot. Turkish import requirements are confirmed per order with your customs broker before loading.

Do you ship containers to Turkey?

Yes, from Thessaloniki for large orders. IMDG UN 1361 Class 4.2 applies.

Which charcoal suits an ocakbaşı?

Marabu is the usual choice for long service; oak and beech for classic grilling. All figures are indicative and vary by lot.
