How we deliver to the European Union

Road or sea, depending on where you are. For the nearer EU members, Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Romania, Hungary and Austria, a full 13.6 m truck with about 33 Euro pallets leaves Skopje and crosses into the EU at the border on the route; groupage covers a few pallets. For Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Poland and Spain, we quote both a truck and a 20 ft or 40 ft container shipped from Thessaloniki to your nearest port.

Transit by road is a few days for neighbouring members and longer further north and west; the exact transit is confirmed in the quotation with the loading date. Incoterms are agreed per order, from EXW Skopje through FOB Thessaloniki to delivered at your warehouse.

Customs and documents for the European Union

Ask your customs representative to confirm the classification, origin documents and import requirements for the actual goods and destination. Dispatch from Skopje does not, by itself, prove North Macedonian origin or establish a preferential duty rate.

Before ordering, agree the invoice, packing list, transport document and any additional product, traceability or safety documents required for your shipment. The broker and carrier should confirm clearance or transit arrangements and responsibilities before loading.

Who buys from us in the European Union

EU buyers fall into four groups. Importers and distributors take containers or full trucks and re-sell to restaurants and shops. Retail chains want charcoal briquettes and lump charcoal in 2 to 10 kg bags with multilingual or private-label packaging and often ask about EN 1860-2, the European standard for barbecue charcoal, which we can discuss but do not claim certification against.

Restaurant groups, from ćevabdžinice and souvlaki houses to ocakbaşı and steakhouses, ask for Marabu for long service (indicatively up to around 7 hours of burn, varying by lot) and oak or beech for classic grilling. Heating buyers in central and eastern members order wood briquettes for stoves and boilers. We deal in English, Macedonian and Serbian, and the site is in 14 languages. The range is subject to availability and includes acacia among other types.

What to include in your enquiry

Send the product, the quantity in pallets, trucks or containers, the bag size, the delivery address or port in the EU, the Incoterm you prefer, your target date, private-label needs and any specification your buyer must see. Virovo Promet confirms in writing the availability, the net load, the packaging, the documents for the lot and the terms, with all figures marked as indicative and varying by lot.

Virovo Promet is a family-owned charcoal wholesaler in Skopje, North Macedonia, founded in 1990, exporting full-container loads of hardwood charcoal across Europe and beyond. Everyone is welcome at the Skopje office and warehouse, Monday to Saturday 08:00 to 16:00, and a video call is available for buyers who cannot travel.

Which EU countries do you quote for?

Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Poland and Spain, among others. If your country is not listed, ask; we export wherever current circumstances allow.

Truck or container for an EU importer?

Trucks suit neighbouring members and pallet loads; containers from Thessaloniki suit large volumes to a port such as Rotterdam, Hamburg or Marseille-Fos. We quote whichever fits, or both.

Is the charcoal duty-free in the EU under the SAA?

Have your customs representative verify the current tariff and any applicable preference for the exact product and origin. We confirm the available origin documents for the actual lot; shipment from Skopje alone is not proof of preferential origin.

What does EUDR mean for my charcoal import?

Wood charcoal (HS 4402) is in scope from 30 December 2026 for large and medium operators, from 30 June 2027 for most micro and small operators, with exceptions. We discuss due-diligence information per order and make no compliance claim.

Do you certify to EN 1860-2?

No certification is claimed. EN 1860-2 is the European quality reference for barbecue charcoal; tell us what your buyer requires and we say what we can document for the lot.
