How we deliver to Slovenia

Road is the standard route to Slovenia. Trucks leave Skopje, transit Serbia and enter the EU at the Serbian–Croatian border, then continue through Croatia to the Bregana/Obrežje crossing into Slovenia, an internal Schengen border, and on to Ljubljana or Maribor. The alternative runs through Hungary and Austria when that suits the delivery point.

Full 13.6 m trucks carry about 33 Euro pallets, and groupage is available for a few pallets. Koper is a container port, so a sea container can be routed there for a large order, although road is the usual choice for Slovenia. Transit is a few days by road and is confirmed in the quotation. Incoterms are agreed per order, from EXW Skopje to delivered at your warehouse.

Customs and documents for Slovenia

Ask your customs representative to confirm the classification, origin documents and import requirements for the actual goods and destination. Dispatch from Skopje does not, by itself, prove North Macedonian origin or establish a preferential duty rate.

Before ordering, agree the invoice, packing list, transport document and any additional product, traceability or safety documents required for your shipment. The broker and carrier should confirm clearance or transit arrangements and responsibilities before loading.

Who buys from us in Slovenia

Many distributors work with German-speaking partners and expect indicative burn-time and fixed-carbon figures and the document list up front, and we provide both in writing. Oglje for the žar is sold through retail chains in 2, 3, 5 and 10 kg bags, often under the chain's own brand, and charcoal briquettes are popular where even, predictable heat is wanted.

Restaurants in Ljubljana, Maribor and on the coast ask for Marabu when service runs late (indicatively up to around 7 hours of burn, varying by lot) and for oak or beech for classic grilling. Wood briquettes for heating are also enquired about for the winter. Private-label bags with Slovenian labels are available on request. The range is subject to availability and includes acacia among others.

What to include in your enquiry

List the product, the quantity in bags, pallets or trucks, the bag size, the delivery address in Slovenia, the Incoterm you prefer, your target date and any private-label requirement. Add any specification your buyer needs to see, such as a burn-time or fixed-carbon reference, and we include the indicative figures for the lot. Virovo Promet confirms in writing the availability, the net load, the packaging, the documents for that lot and the terms.

Virovo Promet is a family-owned charcoal wholesaler in Skopje, North Macedonia, founded in 1990, exporting full-container loads of hardwood charcoal across Europe and beyond. Visit the Skopje office and warehouse, Monday to Saturday 08:00 to 16:00, or ask for a video call in English.

Do you provide a written specification for Slovenian buyers?

Yes. We send indicative figures for the type and lot, such as burn time and fixed carbon, marked as typical values that vary by lot. They are not guarantees.

Which route do trucks take to Ljubljana?

Through Serbia and Croatia, entering Slovenia at Bregana/Obrežje, or through Hungary and Austria. Route and transit are confirmed in the quotation.

Can you ship a container to Koper?

Yes, for a large order. Container shipments follow IMDG rules for UN 1361 Class 4.2. For most Slovenian orders road delivery is simpler.

Is EN 1860-2 relevant for charcoal sold in Slovenia?

EN 1860-2 is the European standard for barbecue charcoal quality, and buyers may refer to it. We do not claim certification; tell us what your buyer requires and we say what we can document for the lot.

Do you deliver small quantities to Slovenia?

Yes. Delivery usually starts from one pallet, shipped as groupage. Full trucks are quoted when you are ready.
